Gray Wolves of Alaska introduces you to our wolf pack at the Alaska Zoo! Wolf packs are incredibly dynamic social groups, and through this program you will be immersed into the lives of the Alaska Zoo wolf pack. This program gives you the unique opportunity to meet one of our five wolves and learn about how they interact and communicate. You will be inspired to learn more about the wild canids of Alaska!

Program Details

Format

1. This program begins with a short video familiarizing the audience with the location and mission of the Alaska Zoo.
2. Introduction to staff member and encounter animal(s).
3. Discussion- What is a wolf pack?
4. Dominance hierarchies, meeting the members!
5. Viewing images/sounds/etc. of different forms of wolf communication.
6. View a short video of wolf interactions for participant breakdown and discussion.
7. Time allowed for questions and answers.

Objectives

Through this program participants should be able to:
*Describe the basic members of a wolf pack.
*Discuss the various roles of pack members.
*Develop a basic understanding of how wolves communicate.
*Identify and describe some amazing wolf behaviors.
