Learn about some of the most interesting animals in our collection while virtually touring our Tropical Pacific, Northern Pacific, and Southern California & Baja exhibits with live camera views. Educator led programs are tailored to be grade specific and include interactive media, games, and time to ask questions. General themes include an introduction to the different habitats of the Pacific Ocean, animal diversity, and adaptations.

Program Availability from June 21 - July 30 is Mondays and Fridays 8-9am and 10-12:30pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-12:30pm, and Wednesdays 8-9am and 11-12:30pm. Starting August 2nd through August 13 programs will only be available from 2-4pm weekdays, except on Tuesdays .from 3-4pm. Contact us if you are looking at other days and times. Thank you!

If you cancel your program within 48 hours of the confirmed date of the videoconference session, you will be charged for the full price of the program. Program Details

Format

1. Introduce ocean habitats using a video and discuss different habitats and animals seen.
2. Explore the live webcam views of the kelp forest habitat. Discuss student observations and encourage questions.
3. Use clips, videos, props, and document camera as tools to further introduce kelp forest animals, adaptations, and their habitat.
4. Introduce a coral reef habitat using live webcam views of warm water habitats.Discuss student observations and encourage questions.
5. Use clips, videos, props, and document camera as tools to further introduce and coral reef animals, adaptations, and their habitat.
6. Compare and contrast kelp forest and coral reef habitats.
7. View additional live animal webcams while making observations and encouraging questions.

Objectives

Learners will:
- compare and contrast living an nonliving elements of tropical and kelp forest habitats
- ask questions and share observations about animals and their habitats using pictures, biofacts, and webcam footage
