Program Details

Format

1. This program begins with a short video familiarizing the audience with the location and mission of the Alaska Zoo.
2. Introduction to staff member and encounter animal(s).
3. Photo presentation: What are Corvids?
4. Discussion on corvid intelligence.
5. Viewing of zoo corvid(s) getting "puzzle" enrichment.
6. Short video of talking zoo magpie.
7. Discussion on benefits for survival.
8. Time allowed for questions and answers.

Objectives

Through this program participants should be able to:
*List corvid family members.
*Identify characteristics of each corvid family member.
*Develop an understanding of basic corvid behavior.
*Identify ways that corvid intelligence benefits their survival.
