The main emphasis of the Great Whites program is to promote proper dental habits for positive oral health in a fun and engaging manner. Through the use of several exciting models, displays, and exhibits, participants will be presented with information highlighting the importance of healthy teeth along with the sets, types and parts of teeth. Through demonstrations, participants will discover proper dental habits for positive oral health including brushing, flossing, rinsing, dental visits and consuming healthy foods/drinks.

Pricing - $350 per program for 1-50 students; $600 per program for 51-100 students

A tiered pricing system is utilized based on the number of program participants which will be discussed at the time of scheduling.

Located in south central Pennsylvania, Byrnes Health Education (BHE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that remains dedicated to the mission of educating and inspiring people of all ages to make healthy choices since 1995.


We are proud to offer a variety of preventive health education programs to students (grades PreK-12) and adults (workplace, parents, teachers). Those local to our area can experience our "in-person" programs either here at our center or at their location. Additionally, now thanks to technology, participants outside of our "in-person" reach can experience our "live-virtual" webcast programs during which a BHE health educator streams live from one of our five teaching theaters, Participants in all programs are presented vital health content while being engaged through interactive visuals, props, exhibits, activities, and experiments,

Program subject areas include Social/Emotional (character education/bullying prevention), substance abuse prevention, general health, human development, nutrition & fitness, oral health, and safety & disease prevention. All program content is based on factual scientific information, and guided and mapped to state and national health education standards (as well as those in several Canadian providences).

Format

1. Introduction with a discussion on the importance of teeth.
2. Review of primary and permanent sets of teeth.
3. Review of types of teeth with the Dentina exhibit.
4. Review of parts of a tooth with large tooth model.
5. Review of decay progression from plaque formation to cavity formation.
6. Review of Care for Teeth with the Sheriff Tuff Tooth exhibit.
a. Tips and techniques for proper brushing, flossing, rinsing, and dental visits.
b. Healthy vs. unhealthy food/drinks with happy tooth/sad tooth activity.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
1) Understand the importance of visiting the dentist two times per year
2) Explain and demonstrate proper techniques to brush and floss teeth
3) Identify food and drinks that are healthy and unhealthy for teeth
