Learn how simple machines (lever, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, screw, and wheel and axle) have played a part in the development of arms and armor. Using examples from the Cleveland Museum of Art's famed Armor Court, students will compare different types of armor and discover how they have been used in battle, sport and for ornamentation. Students will also be able to identify and apply simple machines in everyday objects.
