| Program Description |
Based off the Ukrainian folk tale that was adapted and illustrated by Jan Brett, this program will look at some of the animals that find shelter and warmth in the lost mitten of young Nicki. Students will learn why the animals wanted in the mitten, and what the animals usually do to survive the colder temperatures of winter. This program is designed for younger grade levels (pre K - 1st grade) and is therefore only 30 minutes in length. The Lee Richardson Zoo's Distance Learning Studio offers a multitude of environmental programs to students all over the nation. Our programs always include 2-4 live animals. However, we are currently unable to give programs from actual exhibits around the zoo. If you would like to know which specific animals will be used in your program, please contact the Distance Learning Coordinator directly. Additionally students will receive supplies that they will use during the program that will facilitate their learning. |
